Very hard to find book, not often seen. First edition, first printing. Published in 1949 by The National Magazine Company. Many people assume the 1952 World Distributor's edition is the first printing, but this one is the true first edition. Nice illustrations by Don & Ann Goring. Acceptable condition, without dustwrapper, suitable as a reading copy or as a filler until a better copy of this highly elusive edition can be tracked down! (At time of listing this is the only copy of this edition I can find on-line.) Green boards are faded in places and heavily browned, with some other marking. Corners are bumped and rubbed. Spine has a crease running down it and has a lean to it. Binding no longer tight; front hinge has been repaired to strengthen binding, but everything is still intact - no pages coming loose. There is some writing on the last blank end paper and a name written inside front on the pastedown. Pages have some tanning. Many of the illustrations have been coloured in with coloured pencils, however most of them are pretty neatly done. The quizzes/crosswords have been completed with writing on these pages.
